About the expedition

Three ethnic groups,
one extraordinary island

Madagascar, one of the world's largest islands, is a country of a thousand facets. The itinerary we have created following our recent visits is a collection of the most beautiful encounters, both natural and human, the island has to offer.

We will meet no less than three different ethnic groups, each proudly preserving their own traditions, the Betsileo in their mountain villages, the Maskur under the giant baobabs, and the Vezo, nomadic people of the sea along the long white sandy beaches of the south west.

All of this alongside in-depth photography training, portrait, landscape, action and post-production, tailored to your level.

With a background in humanitarian and development affairs, Karai is particularly careful about the impact of its presence as guests. On top of paying our hosts fairly, we ensure direct financial support to local initiatives.

How physically demanding is it?
The general itinerary is moderate, good physical condition for long walks in hilly terrain is recommended. The Tsaranoro 2-day trek involves steep sections. The South of Madagascar can be very hot.
What is the Makay Massif extension?
The Makay massif is the hidden jewel of Madagascar, a labyrinthine sandstone plateau rarely visited by outsiders. We offer an exclusive additional mini-expedition not included in the initial price. Contact us for more details and pricing.
Can I cancel my booking?
Unexpected things happen. You can cancel your booking, though the non-refundable deposit remains non-refundable unless we find a replacement in time. Please read our Terms & Conditions for full details.
